Uprising Launch Party Goes Off
Thanks to everyone who made it down to the Roxx for the Uprising Launch Party!
What a sweet-as little shindig that was. Check out all the photos from the night here.
Big thanks to The Roxx for the venue, and Mountain Designs too for hooking us up some sweet gears to give away.
Simon got some sweet video footage from the night and he's threatening to splice it together so keep an eye out.
National Cup Round 2 at The Roxx this weekend! (July 5 & 6)
This weekend The Roxx Climbing Centre hosts it's first National Cup event since 2006.
The first round at Mt. Maunganui broke records for sheer size and this one is gonna be a biggie too. Remember to register right away at www.nzsf.org.nz if you haven't already as there won't be any day regos available.
If competing isn't your cuppa come down anyway to watch. The Roxx's home climbing team - The Flying Geckos - have their reputation as the top ranked NZ club to defend. We need people to come and support.

Uprising Presents Marty Blumen & Mark Watson
We are stoked and honoured to have renowned photographers Marty Blumen & Mark Watson join the Uprising. A little background info nabbed from their websites follows but the photos really speak for themselves. Check them out here.
About Marty:
Marty Blumen's work has appeared in publications including National Geographic Magazine, rock climbing guidebooks and visual effects work for film and television. His work is characterised by great attention to detail, impeccable lighting and richly saturated colours. One of Marty's goals is to inspire people to become passionate about their dreams. He regularly follows this principle as explained here:
"I have turned down many business opportunities to follow my instincts. For example in 2002 I was offered work on one of the Harry Potter films but instead I headed to Yosemite Valley in California to rock climb. The photographs I took there were later published and have set me upon the path I am on today."
Originally from Brisbane, Australia Marty has travelled extensively and currently lives in Auckland, New Zealand. He is actively involved with the New Zealand Alpine Club in promoting outdoor photography through talks and workshops.
About Mark:
"I’m a Lyttelton, New Zealand based photographer and graphic designer. My photography expresses the intimate connection New Zealanders have with wilderness and the natural landscape, and ways in which we interact with these environments.
For the last eight years I have worked for the NZ Alpine Club as managing editor of The Climber, New Zealand's climbing magazine. I'm also editor of the New Zealand Alpine Journal. My role for these publications encompasses all design and layout and photo-editing requirements as well as print management. I have also designed and published several guidebooks for the NZAC.
Though my work for the NZAC I have developed a growing passion for photography. I have shot a number of features for the magazine, and my work has featured in many New Zealand publications and websites. Most recently, 18 of my best climbing photos were selected for use in Classic New Zealand Rock Climbing (Mark Sedon), a new book published by Craig Potton Publishing."
