The Christchurch Indoor Bouldering Series is back! Three all-abilities events all about having a go and having fun, on an super-extended bouldering area at The Roxx Climbing Centre.

The Climbing New Zealand National Championships will be held on the 19th & 20th September at NZ's leading climbing facility, The Roxx Climbing Centre in Christchurch.

Kiwi Youth Team #1 in Southern Hemisphere
A team of mutant Kiwi youth climbers decended on Valance, France at the end of August. They all climbed to the best of their abilities and had great results - no other team in the Southern Hemisphere had such a broad range of successes. Congratulations to the Wall Blacks!
Pat Deavoll Pakistan F.A.
She's so badass! Kiwi legend Pat Deavoll has made the first ascent of 6,180m Karim Sar above the Shutinbar Glacier in Pakistan. Her climbing partner, Paul Hersey, fell ill at their high camp but Deavoll managed to solo the last 1,000m to make the first ascent.
John Bachar 1957-2009
One of the USA's most iconic climbers, John Bachar, died on July 5th while soloing at the Dikes Wall near Mammoth Lakes, California. His free-spirited attitude to climbing earned him quite a reputation in the 70's and 80's, when he would solo climbs that many top climbers struggled to summit. The Bachar-Yerian route in Tuolumne Meadows has only 13 hand-drilled-on-lead bolts in 500 feet of up to grade 23 face climbing and still sees few ascents.
